Biography: Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 14, 1904. Steinlauf was active in southern California during the 1930s. For many years he lived in Mexico and produced paintings of social realism a la Rivera. After returning to California in 1941, he settled in San Diego and lived there until his demise on April 29, 1989. Exhibited: Artists of LA, LACMA, 1948; Calif. WC Society, 1949-50.
