About: Henri De Waroquier was a painter, sculptor and engraver who was born in Paris on January 8, 1881. At the beginning of the 20th century, he was accustomed to seeing his works figure prominently in major annual exhibitions including the Salon d'Automne, eventually serving as President, and the Society of Painters Engravers Independents, of which he was a Founding Member. In his teens he lived in the Rue Laffitte, in front of the store of Ambroise Vollard, not far from the Durand-Ruel Gallery and Hotel Bing, where he formed his taste by looking at the works of the Impressionists and Japanese masters.
