About the work: A woman shown entirely at ease in a Danish lounge chair. An amalgam of figural and abstract, Berger flattens the scene into geometric swaths of color, echoing the work of Milton Avery and her contemporary, Stephen Pace.

About the artist: Pat Berger was an accomplished and widely exhibited artist based in Los Angeles. Her works have been exhibited at the Laguna Art Museum, Hilbert Museum of California Art and the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Buffalo, NY, among others. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Skirball Cultural Center, Long Beach Museum of Art, Springfield Art Museum.
