About the artist: Burkett is a forest and landscape photographer who, in the words of Vincent Rossi, has “transformed photographic technique into a spiritual endeavor." Burkett’s mastery of his craft has seen his images exhibited throughout the country and he is the recipient of the 2004 Hasselblad Masters Award. 

About the work: The original photo was taken in a forested section of Bernheim, Kentucky in 1991. Because of the amount of time and skill required to print the delicate scene, this work was not printed until some 4-5 years later.
